Preparing for a Lighthouse Run July 23, 2009

Okay, everyone, I’ve decided.  I’m gonna do it.

I can almost hear your question.  What, pray tell, is a “lighthouse run”?

Well… some of you may recall, I wrote a post last year in October called “The Jogging Lady.”  It was all about a woman I met while we toured the Currituck Lighthouse.  She was quite an inspiration to me.  This woman would visit the lighthouse three times a week, and she would JOG — not slowly climb — but JOG up and down the steps inside the lighthouse.  Plus, she would do it not only one time, but TEN times, up and down.

You heard me.  TEN times, up and down.  And then, when she got to the lookout, the parapet, on the top, she would make ten laps around, before she went back down.

Totally amazing.  And inspiring.

So, I’m gonna do it.  And I’m announcing it to the world.

Now, I’m not going to do ten times up and down.  My goal is to do ONE.  That’s right, just one.  This time.

If you want to know what the lighthouse is like, you can see details about it here.

SO… I’m preparing for my lighthouse run.  I’ve got lots of exercises to do, and some weight to lose, and a lot of mental preparation ahead of me.

But it’s going to be grand.

The date? October.  At the one-year anniversary of when we visited the lighthouse the first time.

I’ll keep you posted on my progress.  And I would definitely appreciate your prayers.
